ABOUT US

We are a land development, consulting, and design services nonprofit organization that focuses on projects that impact the underserved, overlooked, and under-resourced both locally and internationally. We partner with faith-based organizations and other nonprofits who have a proven record of impacting their communities. We provide these services by creating project teams of volunteer design professionals (engineers, architects, surveyors, and others) to provide affordable design services to ministries and nonprofits.

CDS is a registered U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization

Our Story:

As a professional civil engineer gaining experience across the country for the last fifteen years, Michael Westfall experienced a growing desire to use the design skills he was developing (in his case, as a Civil P.E.) to serve God and help others. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find any opportunity to use his engineering talents to serve others locally, and yet he knew local ministries and nonprofits could benefit from his skillset. If a process could be created that partnered design professionals with local projects, Michael believed that other professionals across the design industry would also be interested in volunteering their technical expertise. Community Design Services (CDS) was created in part to provide this framework.
